Samsung has commenced the second beta rollout of One UI 8.5 to the Galaxy S23 series and additional models, signalling a move towards a stable release in May, with improvements targeting bugs and system stability based on early tester feedback.
Samsung has begun seeding the second beta of One UI 8.5 to the Galaxy S23 family, in another step towards a stable release that could arrive in May, according to Office da Net and Samsung’s own beta programme updates. The rollout is aimed at the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra, and is designed to refine the software after early tester feedback rather than add headline features. Samsung says the beta is being pushed out in a phased manner across eligible markets.
The latest build carries firmware ending in “ZZDP” and includes April 2026 security patches. In South Korea and India, where the update is currently live, Samsung says the package fixes several issues, including delayed or black screens when calls come in, proximity sensor errors during calls, green-line artefacts when recording 4K HDR video in some camera apps and Bluetooth crashes.
Samsung has also widened the One UI 8.5 beta beyond the S23 line, with the programme now reaching devices including the Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy S23 FE and, for the first time on the A series, the Galaxy A36 5G. According to Samsung’s announcements for the US and UK, the expansion includes markets such as India, Korea, the UK and the US, underscoring the company’s broader push to give more users early access to software changes before the final release.
Users who want to try the beta still have to enrol through the Samsung Members app using the Samsung account linked to the handset, then download the software through the phone’s settings menu. As with any beta, the company warns that instability, higher battery drain and occasional app or system glitches remain possible, so it is best suited to devices that are not relied on every day.
