Asanti Data Centres, Sumillion, and Northamber form a strategic alliance to deliver eco-friendly, scalable colocation solutions, reinforcing the UK’s move towards greener IT infrastructure with enhanced ESG commitments.
Asanti Data Centres Ltd, a prominent UK colocation data centre provider, has announced a new partnership with Sumillion, the UK’s most sustainable IT reseller, facilitated through the IT distributor Northamber PLC. This collaboration brings together three organisations committed to delivering eco-friendly, future-ready IT infrastructure while helping customers advance their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. Sumillion, known for its sustainable and ethical practices—from green technology initiatives to community-focused charitable giving—will now leverage Asanti’s regional edge data centre infrastructure, offering customers scalable, resilient colocation solutions with significantly reduced environmental impacts.
This partnership enhances Asanti’s strategic alliance with Northamber, announced earlier in the year, aiming to supply channel partners with sustainable data centre solutions across the UK. Asanti’s infrastructure spans six regional edge locations—Hamilton, Livingston, Manchester, Leeds, Reading, and Farnborough—each facility boasting a 99.99% uptime service level agreement (SLA) and powered by 100% certified green energy. The company recently secured a renewable energy agreement with Bryt Energy, part of the Statkraft group, to further reduce its carbon footprint by an estimated 2,856 tonnes of CO2 annually. This contract ensures Asanti’s data centres are powered by a combination of solar, wind, and hydro energy, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability amid the UK’s diverse energy grid mix.
Northamber’s director of Cyber & Solutions, Grant Reddin, emphasised the alignment between Sumillion’s sustainability ethos and Asanti’s efficient regional edge data centres. This synergy equips resellers with advanced technology solutions that cater to both business performance and environmental responsibility. Sumillion’s John Rose highlighted the importance of integrating sustainable practices across the entire IT infrastructure stack, explaining that the partnership enables the company to extend its mission into resilient, secure data centre infrastructure without compromising customers’ environmental values.
The partnership reflects a broader shift within the UK IT sector toward sustainable transformation. Industry data reveals increasing demand for responsible infrastructure that balances performance with environmental stewardship. Asanti’s rapid growth has been supported by strategic acquisitions and expansions, including the purchase of five UK data centres from the Daisy Group in 2022, boosting its rack capacity and network reach. Furthermore, Asanti has recently extended its contract with Atos to increase capacity within the Livingston data centre, Scotland’s only dual-powered facility noted for its low power usage effectiveness (PUE), further strengthening its footprint and service provision.
Overall, the collaboration between Asanti, Sumillion, and Northamber marks a significant step in shaping an IT infrastructure ecosystem that is resilient, scalable, and environmentally conscientious, thus enabling IT leaders to align technology deployment with stringent ESG commitments.
